1. Who we are

Nara is operated by From Amine (“Nara”, “we”, “us”). This policy explains how the Nara iPhone app and its supporting services handle personal data. For privacy questions or requests, email support@fromamine.com.

2. What Nara does

Nara links to WhatsApp as a companion device and creates a private relationship garden from recent one-to-one conversation activity. Plant health is calculated from metadata such as message timing, direction and read state. It does not use message text.

Nara also offers optional chat intelligence. If you explicitly enable it and choose contacts, a bounded window of new conversation text may be processed to produce summaries and possible outstanding items. Capture starts after consent and is not retrospective.

3. Data we collect

Account and security data

  • Your Sign in with Apple account identifier and authentication credentials.
  • App Attest device-key records, receipts and counters used to verify genuine app requests.
  • Security, rate-limit and operational records, including timestamps and pseudonymous request digests.

WhatsApp connection and relationship data

  • The phone number you enter to request a pairing code. Nara does not keep it as a separate profile field after pairing.
  • Encrypted linked-device credentials needed to maintain the WhatsApp connection.
  • Identifiers and names for eligible one-to-one contacts, your tracking choices and connection state.
  • Conversation metadata including timestamps, direction, read or unread state and derived activity metrics.

Optional chat intelligence data

  • New message text for the contacts you explicitly select, within configured message and time limits.
  • Derived summaries, possible outstanding items, grounding references, consent records and AI usage totals.

Notifications and calendar

  • Push-notification tokens, preferences, quiet hours and timezone when notifications are enabled.
  • Calendar permission and conflict checks stay on your iPhone. Nara does not upload your existing calendar events.

4. How we use data

We use personal data only to provide and secure Nara: authenticate you, maintain the linked connection, create your garden, honour tracking choices, generate features you request, deliver notifications, provide support, prevent misuse and keep the service reliable. We do not sell personal data, show advertising or use data for cross-app tracking.

5. Chat intelligence and other participants

Conversation data can relate to other people as well as you. Only enable chat intelligence for conversations you are permitted to process, and tell participants where required. Group chats are outside Nara’s chat-intelligence scope.

Selected text is handled in bounded memory by Nara and is not written to Nara’s application database. It is sent to Google Gemini to produce the requested result with provider-side storage disabled. Google may retain prompts, context and outputs for up to 55 days for abuse monitoring under the applicable paid-service terms. Nara stores the resulting summaries and suggestions in encrypted form.

6. Service providers and disclosures

We use service providers only where needed to operate Nara:

  • Render for application hosting and managed PostgreSQL in Frankfurt, Germany.
  • Google Cloud for encryption-key management and, when you enable chat intelligence, Gemini processing.
  • Apple for Sign in with Apple, App Attest, TestFlight and push notifications.
  • WhatsApp for the linked-device connection you request.

We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a business transfer subject to appropriate safeguards. We do not disclose personal data to data brokers or advertisers.

7. Retention

  • Account, encrypted WhatsApp session and relationship records are kept while your account remains active, unless a shorter rolling period applies.
  • Relationship activity used by the garden is retained on a rolling 30-day basis.
  • Derived chat summaries, outstanding-item processing jobs and related source references are normally retained for up to 30 days, unless you delete them sooner or confirm an item that remains in your account.
  • AI usage records are normally retained for up to 90 days.
  • Security and operational records are kept only as long as reasonably needed for reliability, abuse prevention and legal obligations.

Backup copies may persist for a limited recovery period before automatic expiry. Google’s separate abuse-monitoring retention is described in section 5.

8. Security

Nara uses access controls, encrypted transport, restricted database roles, Apple App Attest and envelope encryption for sensitive stored data. No service can promise absolute security. Please contact us promptly if you believe your account or data is at risk.

9. Your choices and rights

You can choose which contacts appear in your garden, keep chat intelligence off, change notification settings, disconnect WhatsApp, sign out or delete your account. Account deletion is available in Nara under Settings → Delete account and removes the account and associated Nara records, subject to limited backup, legal and security retention.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing, or receive a portable copy of personal data. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority. Email support@fromamine.com to make a request.

10. International transfers

Nara’s primary hosting is in Germany. Some providers may process data in other countries. Where required, we rely on contractual and legal safeguards for international transfers.

11. Children

Nara’s closed beta is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 18. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal data.

12. WhatsApp notice

Nara uses an unofficial linked-device integration and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by WhatsApp or Meta. Use of the integration may carry account-restriction risk under WhatsApp’s terms.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Nara changes. We will post the revised version here, update the effective date and provide additional notice in the app when a change materially affects how data is handled.
